About

We are proud that our small team has a combined 40 years of various types of construction experience. We’ve managed almost every part of a home build, from selling trusses to laying tile. We’ve remodeled 120 year old houses and built brand new tiny homes. What we are best at, however, is helping a homeowner craft a vision and managing the realization of that vision. We love to use our knowledge, resources, and network to create a finished product for you that exceeds your expectations.

We live and work in a diverse part of North Carolina and we love working with people of all backgrounds. You can rest assured that our team cares deeply about respecting you and your property.

MEET THE TEAM

Jessa Witzel, Builder and Owner; Licensed Contractor

Jessa’s love for renovations began from a young age, as she watched her father’s Miami based flooring company at work. She has strong memories of playing with carpet samples and “supervising” everyone from her out-of-the-way spot on the stairs.

Her favorite part, then and now, is watching the transformation that occurs between demo and the finished product. Jessa loves helping people transform their house into a home and a place you can fill with joyful memories.

Jessa moved to North Carolina in 2013, desperate to escape the heat of Florida and find a place where she could enjoy the seasons and quickly fell in love with her new home state.

Brian Burns, Project Director

Brian fell in love with home remodeling out of necessity, by fixing up his first home at the age of 25. Working in insurance, he was desperate to get out from behind the desk.

It is an incredible feeling to gain skills and to see the difference craftsmanship can make in turning a house into a home. Soon after that, Brian went to work in renovations with his best friend in their Appalachian home town.

As a Project Director at Crafted, Brian’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail comes in handy as he wrangles construction chaos and guides clients and subcontractors through the home building process.

Brian graduated from NC State and currently lives in Durham, where he’s found his people.

Daniel Autry, Project Director

Born and raised in the Triangle, Daniel has spent the past 20 years building a career in construction and project management.

He began by designing trusses before moving on to roles at Home Depot and ITC, gaining valuable experience in the industry.

Eventually, his passion for construction led him to project management, where he now oversees home renovations and additions.

What Daniel loves most about his work is seeing a project come to life—from the first day of demolition to the final details that truly transform a space.

His hands-on approach, attention to detail, and commitment to quality ensure that every project is completed with care and precision.

Stephanie Gauzens, Business Manager

As Business Manager, Stephanie plays a key role in every stage of a project’s lifecycle—from proposals and contracts to budgets and client communications.

Before joining Crafted, she served as Sr. Communications Director for the U.S. Fashion Industry Association, where she led branding and messaging initiatives, organized apparel and textile events, and was quoted in CNN’s coverage of tariffs.

Drawn by the opportunity to build something meaningful alongside her college friend Jessa, Stephanie joined Crafted to help people create warm, welcoming homes that reflect who they are.

Stephanie serves on several national and local U.S. Masters Swimming committees and performs sacred music as both a soloist and choir member throughout Northern Virginia and D.C.

Dolce, Chief Barkitect

As the esteemed Chief Barkitect, Dolce oversees operations —providing moral support, design inspiration, and the occasional surprise office visit.

While not often onsite, Dolce takes great pride in ensuring the team stays motivated, the paperwork remains sufficiently sat on, and all company meetings include well-earned ear scratching breaks.

When not fulfilling executive duties, Dolce can be found napping in the sun rays, enthusiastically announcing that a delivery has arrived and reminding her mom it’s time for dinner.

With an unmatched ability to boost morale and a bark that commands attention, Dolce is an indispensable member of the team.
